I suppose I should've called this page my "DisneyWorld page", since I'm pretty much devoting it to DisneyWorld.
Anyway, here we go!

This page gives some information I've seen little elsewhere on the "Web", but thought someone may be interested in.

First of all:

GET A DISNEY DISCOUNT CARD

Also known as a "Magic Kingdom card". It will save you HUNDREDS of dollars. It costs $75.00 for 2 years. You also get discounts at Disney stores, and, I believe at Disneyland too.

A note on DisneyLand: It's been 20 years since I've been there, so I won't spend much time on this. Between "1974-1976" I was there 7 times. That was the last time I was there, and they have made many changes since, and I don't want to be unfair to DisneyLand.

Now onto the real fun!!!

The first time I was at DisneyWorld was for 1 day, in Aug "79". Although, at the time Epcot was under construction and not open to the public, nor were MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, or any water parks in existence at that time, so there was much less to see. The second time I was there for 1 week in "Oct. 96" and saw about two thirds of the attractions. We went in October 1996, October 1997, August 1998, August 1999, and August 2000. We went back again this year just have to see the "Millenium Celebration". I never should've taken the wife there the first time (haha). Now, it's the only place she wants to go, although as long as it makes her happy, what the heck. And it does.

DisneyWorld:

As I said," I went in 1979". My family went in 1996 and stayed at the All Star Sports Resort, in 1997 at Dixie Landings, 1998 at Coronado Springs, Contemporary Resort in 1999, and Yacht and Beach Club in 2000. While we were there, we've always stayed at "Disney World Resorts". I am adding more pages about the various resorts we've stayed at, so stay tuned. If you can't afford to stay at a Disney "OWNED" resort, you're missing half the fun. You miss out on too many of the real benefits offered by Disney.

Such as:

  1. * ONLY RESORT guests get to go to what is called "Early Opening". 3 of 4 parks open early, on a different day each, before normal admissions. Up to an hour, even an hour and a half. This means, no lines for the best rides, and therefore, minimal frustration.
  2. Discount prices on some "special events". Can be a great money saver.
  3. Resort guests get "priority seating" when it comes to most of the best restaurants, especially the buffet and "Character" meals. When you have to wait in line with a few kids, and EVERYONE ELSE goes and you don't eat until they're (the kids) all asleep and cranky, you'll see. Don't say I didn't warn you.
  4. Easy in-house bus transportation to and from your resort, and most anywhere else you want to go on Disney property. This doesn't sound like much,--but IT IS--. Nice air conditioned buses, with friendly drivers, can be a comfort when the whole family has "HAD ENOUGH" fun. If that really is possible.
  5. If you can, take naps in the mid noon time, just when the parks are packed, the heat is up, and everyone's temper is the shortest. Especially for the kids comfort. Afterall, isn't that what's most important?

    * While you stay at the "Disney Resorts" you get early admission to the parks. By getting up early and getting there quick, you get to enter the park up to 1 1/2 hrs.before the parks open to the general public. Not all rides are working, but the "premier" rides are open. That way, when you get on the best rides early, by the time the park gets busy, you've ridden 3 or 4 "little" rides and are getting tired. We would then go back to the room, for a lite lunch and a nap, or swimming in the resort pools. A few hours, or so later, you are rested and ready to go again. By then the people in the park are tired and cranky, ready to get out of the parks. Really, it did seem to work the best way for us.

The one best piece of information is to people with children younger than about "6":
    1. Do yourself a favor, and wait a little longer until the kids can stand the walking.
There's nothing harder than to have to "drag" your kids all over the park screaming. It's mostly supposed to be for their enjoyment. It's hard to realize just how big DisneyWorld is until you have to get around. But don't get me wrong, IT'S THE BEST TIME YOU'LL HAVE AND WORTH EVERY PENNY.

They are in the process of making all of DisneyWorld "smoke free", except in "designated areas". As a smoker, I say, "this sucks!!". You may not agree, that's okay. After all, we're all different. Any suggestions are welcome.

I have a few things to say about Mears Transportation, too.

    Link to Disney Property Map
    From 1999.
Here's a link to the Disney Property map. It gives you a good idea how big DisneyWorld really is. There's also a link to the Disney bus lines, for travel within DisneyWorld, as long as you are staying at a Disney resort. As of 1999 Disney owns 55 square miles for this "park". Because of this, it will take a moment to view.
    Mickey Mouse and the Family

    1999
This is a picture of our family taken as a "Flex Feature". It comes with a "Magic" plan or better. I used mine for this picture and we still had all remaining members of our family with their flex features.

    Rocken Rollercoaster at MGM Studios

    1999
This is a picture of my wife and kids on the "Rock 'n Rollercoaster" at MGM Studios. My youngest said, "she won't go on it again". This ride lasts about 10 minutes. That's right, TEN minutes. I suggest that if you get air sick at all, don't ride this one.

    Polynesian Luau

    1999
This is a picture of our family as we entered the "Polynesian Luau". We've seen it 2 times and enjoy it very much. It does cost extra, but we think it's worth it. Very entertaining, but, ANY inclimate weather and they cancel the show.If you see it you will know why. They do have excellent food, if you like "Peanut oil".

    scared daughter

    1996
    > A typical 7 year old (my daughter) looking up "Jungle Cruise". Not real scary but, we were "working her up". And it is exactly like DisneyLand.

    kids with Chip

    1996
These are my kids at "Chef Mickey's Buffet Dinner" at the Contemporary Resort smoozing with "Chip". All of the buffets were hits in our book. Go to as many of these as you can. It's the best way to eat at the cheapest prices, and it's also the funnest.

    Photo of Blizzard Beach

    1996 and today
This is a picture of "Mount Gushmore (the main attraction) at Blizzard Beach". All-in-all, not a bad ride, -FOR 3 SECONDS- or so. I really was not impressed, although it is a long way up. I'm not afraid of heights either. Basically, I found all the water parks lacking in size and adventure. Way overpriced for the money but if included in the "Hopper Pass", it's worth checking out.

If you like these wallpapers, click on whichever you like. In the new window, after the picture loads fully, right click, select "save (or set) as wallpaper". I've left them at a good size for the kids. My neice wanted it, so, I put them up for everyone. You will view the full sized picture by clicking on them, however it will take a minute or so to load them.

I would like to thank Disney for all of their fine work. And the enjoyment they have brought to my family, friends, and me.
